Just saw the 2x8 GB Kit of HyperX 2133 price drop significantly and couldn't resist. They will replace my 1600er (2x4, 1x8) mixture. Let's see if it'll have any influence on benchmarks/games.
I know it's a bit OT, but i added some winsat output of the old ram to compare it later with the new one. I'll add Firestrike Scores and maybe Batman: Arkham City, too. I think it had a nice benchmark tool. Any other wishes?

Today they finally arrived (our deliveryman is striking for more money, can't blame him for that...)!
The results are as suspected. Big theoretical increase, none to minor increase in games and even one decrease (in Mordor). Guess i have to play with 'em a bit. But that's what i bought them for.
Now for the results:
Benchmarks (CPU @ 4 GHz, GPU @ +180/495, FHD, max. Quality, VSync off)
From 1600 MHz @ 11-11-11-28-208-2T to 2133 MHz @ 11-11-11-35-278-2T

I hate to dig an old thread back up, but Newegg has this G.Skill: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231776&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
And on their eBay store, this Kingston:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HyperX-Impa...7000-Laptop-/381277956655?hash=item58c5efea2f
Corsair kit only available on amazon, super pricey:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H33JU3K/
The concensus is still Corsair > Kingston > G.Skill?
Kingston says the timing is 11-12-13, which sounds gross. G.Skill says their timing is 11-11-11-31, Corsair says 11-11-11-27. All apparently run 2133 @ 1.35V, so I'm not sure how Fox found the Kingston running 1.65V which I want to avoid at all costs if that is the case. I'd rather have G.Skill 2133 1.35V and up the voltage to 1.50 and raise speed or tighten timings than deal with any voltage higher than 1.50 -
And, now the G.skill 2133mhz DDR3 SODIMM is only $216 for a matched set of 4 x 8GB => 32GB, wow!
27.8Gbps vs 14.5Gbps throughput, so if your app/game relies on memory throughput, 2133mhz makes a nice ~2x upgradeLast edited: Oct 15, 2015 -

Hmmm, now I see I am in an Alienware thread... as I recall 1866mhz was the fastest in stock BIOS, but check with Prema and see if he has a BIOS that will let you tune memory in your model to get 2133mhz.
My use / experience is with Asus G750/G751 and MSI GT72/GT80 -
I have G.SKILL running at 2133 in the Alienware 18. Unless the A12 BIOS fixed it, you have to do a quick and easy tweak with Thaiphoon Burner and bump the tCKmin value a couple of notches faster because the default 1066 drops to 933. Bumping it to 1067-1068 will force it to stay rock solid at 2133.

I want to start by upgrading the RAM since I dont have the budget at the moment to upgrade to 2x 980M.
With the new bios 12, will 2133 work in my alienware? Am I safer going with the 1866?
Thank you in advance
EDIT: Here are my two choices

I will work with the G.SKILL 2133 shown in the first page of this post. You have to bump the tCKmin value up a couple of notches with Thaiphoon Burner or it runs 2133. After that simple mod it runs very stable 2133. -
Thank you for the warm welcome Mr. Fox.
I just ordered the GSKILL we will see how it goes. I am new to the oc world!Mr. Fox likes this. -
Sorry to slightly necro, but I just bought some 32GB Kingston DDR3L 2133 for $120. I think I will be splitting the set and putting 16GB in the R2, and 16GB in the AW18. Any success in overclocking (or tightening times) at 1.5V?

Well, I really don't like that either about Thaiphoon Burner either, but it is very useful and having SPD that works right plug-and-play is much better than manual BIOS settings that are never permanent. The program itself is excellent, it is only the draconian licensing nonsense that sucks.
For most consumers that buy the $16 version, memory SPD tweaking is something that is done only one time. Once you have the settings you desire, there is never a need to use it on the same memory modules again. You will lose manual BIOS settings any time the BIOS is reset, then you will have to pull the bottom cover and temporarily install at least one stick of compatible memory that works right. Without Thaiphoon Burner there is no way to choose BIOS settings for DDR3-2400 functionality on the Eurocom Panther. And, there was also no way that I could get my 2133 memory to run faster than 1866 in the Alienware 18 using manual BIOS settings. No matter what I selected, it would run no faster than 1866. I had to tweak the tCKmin in order to achieve that. Plus, if you cannot even POST with stock SPD, establishing manual BIOS settings that actually work is a problem.ajc9988 likes this. -
I won't buy it again. I made some changes to my M18x R2 in an earlier build and invalidated my license, and the guy told me to buy a new license. Piss poor support, never supporting him again. If I'm forced to though, I will.
-
Yeah, I hear you. I've had to buy it four times, twice on the 18, twice on the Panther. I really hate that as well, but I don't know of anything else available that can do what it does. I hate software expiration. I suspect it has more to do with circumventing the software being stolen by dishonest enthusiasts that think they are entitled to steal whatever they wish... and, it seems there are more people eager to steal software than there are honest folks willing to pay for it, and for that we must all suffer. They do offer the very expensive Pro version for people that want to permanently own it and avoid expiration issues. I'd rather pay $16 when I need to "borrow" it once in a great while.

Here is the G.SKILL Ripjaws 2133 RAM from the opening post overclocked to 2400 in the P750ZM. Album in opening post has stock speed test results to compare with.

Any sodimm ddr4 that can do 2400 11-11-11-24 1T or better?
My desktop kit currently does that with 1.38vMr. Fox likes this. -

Maybe try 2400 with lower timing, might give you a better result.
You do have a lower latency compared to my system though.

@Raidriar FWIW I prefer custom settings in the BIOS too as long as the BIOS is fairly decent in that respect. If we try some settings and if they are no good the BIOS should reset to defaults so we can try again. Settings can always be backed up too unless upgrading the firmware. If the BIOS is lacking then SPD can be written via RWEverything. A very handy, free and powerful program for hardware. See your using XTU, should see some good improvements in the benchmark when RAM is tweaked.
Did manage to get some DDR3L SODIMM up to 2800MHz but bandwidth was a bit of a let down. Being single rank probably didn't help.

Until now I thought Quad Channel RAM support is present in every machine, Is it only limited to X79, X99 mother boards ? Sorry for this noob question.

I meant the 9 series do (x79 and x99). The x77, x87 and x97, also known as consumer chips, do not. The extreme edition chips are based off of the xeon commercial chip and is considered enthusiast.

2x4gb dual channel using same timing as before

RWEverything has been able to write SPD for eons. In the older versions you had to do this under the SMBUS tab as it wasn't available from the SPD tab but for quite a while now with later versions it also supports a write button under the SPD tab.
@Mobius 1 thanks for that, you could also try single channel and for giggles see what difference it makes on XTU benches. -

TB, Is that Thaiphon? I ran Thaiphon once or twice a long time ago, last time was when the author was asking about Haswell locking SMBUS for SPD IIRC which for my laptop I had already unlocked so just provided a bit of feedback on that. I would think Thaiphon would make SPD a lot easier to do while RWEverything would require a bit more SPD knowledge. The flashing SPD data though is straight forward enough.

So, some scores for my new stable SPD on my Kingston HyperX Impact: 2400MHz, CL11 13-14-28-228 CR- 2T (trial of AIDA ran out and debating the purchase for a license). Note the consistency in Winsat mem and the ns timings of the memory:

Hi everyone, I'm interested in upgrading my 4x4GB 1600MHz mix of OEM and Kingston memory to 2x8GB 2133MHz memory, unfortunately it appears the Corsair Vengeance recommended in this thread is no longer available, could someone help me either find this particular memory or recommend an alternative?
Kingston HyperX?
