I recently bought a Vista Home Premium Dell Inspiron 6400. It has a 160GB SATA hard drive. All is mostly well with the laptop, but yesterday I tried to install Microsoft's Common Controller driver for the Xbox 360 controller, and when I try to execute, I get this message: "Not enough storage is available to process this command". That just can't be right. OS(C: ) is currently reading 96.8GB free of 136GB, and the driver app is only 644KB. So what's going on?

Did you try restarting the computer or closing some of the programs that are running in the background?
-
Yep. Still no joy.

I can't find any solution to this problem with Vista.
The only thing I can find is this one but no one has replied to it yet.
You can have a look at this here but it's for Windows XP.
Unless someone else here knows what the problem is I suggest calling Microsoft. I have no idea. -
Do a virus scan.
It may be a RAM problem. ie: Windows thinks there's not enough space on the RAM...
Try installing Another problem and you can see if its a problem with the setup of that particular program or wether its a hardware issue. -
I'll try all this, but other executables have worked fine. Had little problem installing apps, except for this one.

An installer is just another program, that is just as susceptible to bugs. It probably doesn't deal well with large drive sizes or something stupid like that. I've seen worse out of Microsoft.
Am I out of hard disk space???
