There was a chart posted in the main Fusion thread with which GPU can be paired up which IGP and the resulting model number the hybrid set up produce.
The top mobile part can be paired with a discrete HD6770M and the result would be a HD6790M.
-
What I meant here was multi-threading applications. In single threads, faster clock are the way to go.
Though I have never had tried any mobile processors from amd, I have had a desktop with the Phenom 2 X4 920 clocked at 2.8 Ghz. It had always been great processor until I sold the rig for a SB one.
Also what IGP does the top mobile part have? -
AMD: Llano Is An Intel Shocker
Another update on the llano processor, it seems amd has found a way to enhance battery life.
It appears llano is coming well above everyone's expectations including mine.
Edit:I know all this has been said by amd, but still it's worth a look. -
-
This guy seems to have broken the IGP record.
APU smashed new IGP world records with Gigabyte A75M-UD2H ( 3Dvantage P6160 igp ) -
-
Lol
That really made my day.
We'll see what it is capable of after launch. -
-
Nice findings in this thread.
Im really looking forward to see how competitive AMD will price this. -

It all sounds promising and good, but all of the companies really, REALLY need to rethink their naming schemes.
It's confusing me, and a lot of others, I bet.
Mr. Mysterious -
It really is becoming very confusing. -
-
I have to admit I'm also very confused with AMD's naming scheme.
So far I've only seen A4-3300M, A6-3400M and A8-3500M laptops, what about the A4-3310MX, A6-3410MX, A8-3510MX and A8-3530MX?
What does the MX even stand for and what is the difference between M and MX?
All MX CPU's are 45W TDP including the A4-3310MX.
A4-3310MX is 2.1 - 2.5Ghz 45W TDP (Dual Core): AMD A4-Series A4-3310MX
A6-3410MX is 1.6 - 2.3Ghz 45W TDP: AMD A6-Series A6-3410MX
A8-3500M is 1.5 - 2.4Ghz 35W TDP: AMD A8-Series A8-3500M
Very confusing.
Edit:
My guess is MX are Llano CPU's that can do Hybrid CrossFire. -
MX maybe their overclockable lineup?
Now I'm starting to doubt the release of llano on 14 June. -
I think the release date has been pushed back to June 16, 2011 but it'll be released on schedule sometime next week.
I probably won't be buying until the end of this month to early next month anyway, I want give more time for other manufacturers have their Llano laptops ready and out on the market.
I'll also be paying close attention and comparing prices/performance (benchmarks/reviews) to Intel/NVIDIA and choose from there. -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I think 'X' just means it is 45W, and therefore more powerful. Danube had similar naming. All of the 35W processors had an 'N' or 'P' in front but the three 45W ones, with the highest clock speeds, had an 'X'. For Sabine, all the 35W APU's end in 'M' while the 45W ones end in 'X'.

Very interesting and hoping it's true.
-
I wonder if these Llano Notebooks going to have all USB 3.0 ports?
-
The Hudson-M3, or A70M FCH, chipset will support up to 4 USB 3.0 ports, 10 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 1.1 ports.
-
There are two chipsets for Llano based APU laptops, AMD A60M and A70M.
Only the AMD A70M chipsets have native USB 3.0 but that does not mean A60M chipset based Llano laptops do not have USB 3.0, manufactures can still put USB 3.0 controllers (NEC/Renesas) on A60M chipsets but just not native via AMD.
Edit: The AMD A70M chipset having native USB 3.0 will have up to 10% more performance as oppose to 3rd party USB 3.0 controllers. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
That would depend on the controller used surely.
Also it would depend on the cost and space.
Why add a controller when upgrading the chip is cheaper? -
-
We'll have to wait and see. -
Some kind of software? -
Here's something for the ones awaiting llano

Catalyst Control Center has the ATI Overdrive utility to overclock discrete GPU but there's also the separate AMD Overdrive tuning app used to overclock Black Edition CPU.
It could take the combo of the two to fully OC Llano's IGP...AMD Overdrive would definitely handle the system memory overclocks but the IGP's GPU core overclocks might have to be done through ATI Overdrive in CCC.
If all else fails there's always third party utilities to try. -
Is it a good time to make a 'AMD Llano Owner's Thread' yet?
Someone lead the way cause I'm not good at thread starting unless I have a problem or need questions answered. -
The AMD Fusion Info thread is good enough for general Llano talk...and I'm certain when more info becomes available Jayayess1190 will start up a Forget Llano, Trinity on the Way thread. -

Review up at Legitreviews.com:
AMD Llano A-Series APU Sabine Notebook Platform Review - AMD A-Series APUs Arrive - Llano - Legit Reviews
Editor's choice. Not a bad start for Llano. -
Looks like Llano is within 5% of Arrandale clock for clock from the review. The battery life is fantastic and as speculated Llano is as good as Sandy Bridge under typical usage but when watching movies and gaming unplugged, Llano clearly offers better batter life. Not in the review but I'm almost certain Llano is better on idle and standby.
Edit: Please not the Llano laptop used in the review is using a 7200 RPM hard drive (the i5 is using a 5400 RPM and the i7 is using a SSD) so Llano maybe up to 10% better on battery than Sandy Bridge with the same battery capacity under typical usage conditions.
Thanks, -

Looks very promising!
I might even pick up one of these myself in a year or so
Mr. Mysterious -
As I've been saying all along, it's good if you still insist on playing games on your mobile PC while they still haven't completely gone console only, go for it. Otherwise, CPU performance is half of i5 in some benchmarks, pretty slow.
I'd like a comparison of i5+discrete AMD gpu vs. Llano though, especially when it comes to power. -
LOL...mrmysterious66
In other words never. -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I wish they had given more info on the Turbo Core clock speeds. The ~7000 Cinebench score implies a clock speed of around 1.5GHz, based on the benchmarks already listed. Does turbo not OC all 4 cores at all?
-
Agreed, the review is very brief in terms of performance on Llano (Benchmarks).
We'll probably get more detailed reviews within the week and one from NoteBookCheck sometime next week. -
Here's Tom's much more in depth review:
The AMD A8-3500M APU Review: Llano Is Unleashed : AMD?s Gambit
They come to the conclusion that 35W is too low for the old Stars cores to ramp up to 2.4 Ghz often. Also, just like I said, SB spends more of its time at lower power states and ends up being more power efficient, but they're close.
GPU wise, there's no contest though, AMD kills Intel, although I did find it funny that Intel matched AMD's GPU accelerated encryption performance with just CPU alone in one testOh also Hybrid crossfire is pretty much useless, most of the time it's slower than discrete alone.
In the end, they'll sell these simply because power consumption is improved over anything they had before, even if CPU performance hasn't really improved, achieving the same performance using lower power is impressive. -
Wow. Looks like the dual GPU drivers really need some work.
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
The dual graphics and Turbo Core, or lack thereof, results are incredibly disappointing. Hopefully they can both be fixed with better drivers. Battery is good, seems on par with SB, and IGP performance is great. Turbo Core and hybrid graphics are two of the most important things for this to be successful, though.
-
I'm not too sure if you can say Hybrid CrossFire (Dual Graphics) is useless. From the review Dual Graphics shows improvements in DX10/DX11 combined with higher resolutions (720P and higher) over discrete and IGP. Also since AMD is not calling the feature Hybrid CrossFire and calling it Dual Graphics instead maybe the technology is different and drivers are still not mature enough to see real improvements over discrete a GPU in DX9 and lower resolution situations.
Edit: I think I maybe safe to say Turbo Core 2.0 only overclocks 1 core to max and 500Mhz with 2 cores but who knows if could be a early BIOS bug.
-
I wonder what the price difference will be between the lowest end A4 Llano vs. Brazos will be, I'm sure people who bought a $600 Vaio YB are kicking themselves now
I hate Atom, never bought into it, and Brazos is way too slow too. It'd be better if everything was at least A4 performance level, that's the minimum comfort level for any user if you ask me.
