I was going to buy a Core Duo 2.0 Ghz in a HP DV8000t, but then I saw that the dv9000 was comign out that has the new AMD Turion X2 dual core! I like th elooks of the new one and it is skinnier. The only part change is the AMD for the Intel. So my question is does anyoen knwo any benchmarks for the AMD. I'm wondering which one is faster for CURRENT programs so i dont care too much about 64 bit as of now and I also dont care about battery life just processign power. So which one is faster?

Any links to benchmarks would be great as well!

every review seems to indicate that an equivelent speed Intel duo core is faster then the AMD Turion.

Check out CNet's review, or other reviews....

"Unfortunately, the AMD-based dv2000z we tested offered below-average performance and battery life that just couldn't keep up with that of similar laptops that feature Intel processors....."

Sadly the Core Duo is king as noted.

As long as it is a dual-core processor, you are assured good performance. However, the Core Duo is the faster chip as noted.

hmm but how much? It seems like at most a %10 difference between similar clock speeds. Maybe I just read soem of the reviews i found rong, but if it is that small a difference then I may get that simply because the X2 is soooo cheap!

    Thanks for the help

what is the dv9000t I haven't heard of it. I'm guessing it'll run Core 2 duo? Do you know when the estimated release date is?

honestly i have no idea...but from my understanding, when the dv9000 platform is released (which will be soon i think), it will come out with the turion x2, with a 7600 go...

my assumption is that, this will be listed as the "dv9000z" and a bit later on a "dv9000t" will come out with an intel chip and a stronger gpu. My main concern is the gpu and unfortunately the 7600 won't be good enough for me, so i'll have to wait till then.
