    Hey forum members!

I have a big problem. I have bought a notebook (Compaq Presario 1500) but the battery of that notebook was not working. So I bought a new battery from another person.

When I came home I switched the batteries. The new battery was working fine, but now I realise that the notebook does not go higher then 1%. It sais 1% the whole time. I have runned it at idle for an hour, it sais 1% but it remains on for an hour easily.

My problem is: Why does my notebook not recognize my battery as a good battery? I must add one thing: The volt the same as the old battery. Everything is the same, Volt and the Ampere.

I hope anyone has a solution.

To sum the things: I have bought a new battery and the amperes and volts are the same. I cant start the notebook when it is not plugged in. When I start the notebook it remains at 1%, but I can leave it on for an hour easily. So what must I do? A BIOS update, something else?

    Help me please,

    Thanks,

    Charlie :)

Go into the bios. There should be a battery calibration option. It will charge the battery completely, then discharge completely, then recharge. May take a few hours for it to run through the process. This might help it determine the duration of the battery life.

However, are you sure that battery was a direct replacement for your unit? Having a different voltage could potentially cause a problem...unless the laptop was designed to tolerate that variance.

What program are you using to determine your battery percentage?

I just use Windows for the battery percentage.

Thanks for the tip tullnd, but I cant find that option in the BIOS of the Compaq. It is so weird :(
