I seem unable to do this and I'm assuming it is because the warranty has ran out. Gladly the laptop is around 7 years old and I would come to expect that.

Is there any way I can find out what items updates etc there are or how to find out what or where they are please?

I am running wondows vista home premium with a pentium dual-core and I have 232 gig hard drive with 142gig free.

    Thank you,

    Dave:hi2:

    I don't think it's because it's out of warranty...

    Vista huh?

Best upgrade you can do for your machine: Win8 (most likely no additional drivers needed).

    Hope the above link helps.

What are you referring to as updates, are you talking about physically updating your machine to new specifications or Windows updates?

I would avoid that like a plague until you can fix your current problem. I installed Windows7x64 Ult Sp1 on my 1525 without any problem. And as another reply said what updating are you referring to hardware or O/S update or what other updates are you talking about?? Windows update shouldn't have a expiration date if you bought it you will be giving updates on windows update feature. The laptop itself does have a manufacture warranty expiration date by them.
