    Okay so i know there are already a bunch of question threads between the new Intel dual core processors but my question(s) are a little less specific than "this one or this one."

    So we have the:

    P8400 2.26GHz 3mb cache Baseline Price
    P8600 2.4GHz 3mb cache +$55
    T9400 2.53GHz 6mb cache +$130
    P9500 2.53GHz 6mb cache +$165
    T9600 2.8GHz 6mb cache +$360

    P=25 watt T=35 watt

    I only want to know is if it is worth upgrading to the P8600 or P9500 for someone who plays games but doesn't do any 3d rendering or other massively cpu intensive programs. Regardless i think someone with a good deal of knowledge on this subject should address which processor someone needs or doesn't need based on their gaming/rendering/encoding habits, assuming that there is any idea of how their performances compare as they were just released this morning.

    Do your part to avoid the 8300////9300 threads that I'm sure the active members on this site would like to forget. :D

    If you won't be running CPU-intensive tasks too often and are on a tight budget....go with the P8400

    If you are not on a tight budget, then go for the P9500..!!

    The CPU won't make much of a difference in games..!! Some games still utilize only one core of the CPU..!! So for gaming - you are looking for a good GPU - at least a 8600M GT (DDR3)....!!

    ^^^ Agreed with the above post; get the default CPU and use your money to upgrade the slowest parts of the system, namely the hard drive and graphics card.

    Yeah more RAM is better, and I presume it is a Montevina-based motherboard, so you should be trying out the DDR3 ram, and check out the new internal graphics..!! (go for a laptop with the GM47 (the high no. - 47 should relate to better features), if you are going for integrated graphics)
