Hey I got a bunch of questions because I have been “thinking” again. I would like to get some info on some topics I am curious about. I have been typing them into a word file as they come up since I keep forgetting them before I get a chance to post ^^…blasted memory -_- So here we go and I got links to the other topics below.

    3.) CISC vs RISC

What programs work better on CISC CPU with instructions compared to a rare power RISC CPU? Would windows work better on a RISC chip if it was designed (including programs) to run on those or no? and why? I know the point of CISC is to have reduced instructions but I have heard that windows is bloated so would at this point RISC be better?

Also what instructions do modern day RISC chips use and modern day CISC chips? I can look it in in CPUz with my 3720qm easily but I am curious if anyone has a breakdown of and one has vs the other. I know “RISC” chips have more instructions now than CISC chips a decade ago so how does the difference in instructions affect power.

Also what is linpack for android? Nexus 10 gets 189MFLOPs and ipad 4 gets 654MFLOPS. (how does that compare to DMIPS or intel burn test linpack?) I read those off the most recent review of the Nexus 10 on Notebookcheck.net

I asked for a comparison before but no one could give me a good one. How much of a difference does an instruction make? How does it exactly work. I know the AES instruction makes a huge difference. I can’t make a comparison because I don’t remember exactly the impact but I remember it is many folds better. This directly relates to the first question.

As always more details are better. A guide or place for this info would be great (did some googleing and 5 articles were nearly the same and vague. They also were ~10 years old. I don’t mind reading up on it because this info is currently pertinent to me but would like relevant articles so far they are all really old. A good detail explanation in basic English is always good too ^^ I read through the wikipedia article on it awhile ago but some of it didn’t make sense since it made some assumptions I didn’t know.

As always I appreciate the advice!
