Hello. Are "regular" resolutions supported in widescreen lcd's, such as 800x600, 1024x768? Do they stretch? How does it work? :)
    Like for example, if I got a laptop with a WSXGA+ screen (1680 x 1050), could I do 1280x1024?

You could, But things might look alittle funky, I have a wsxga+ and when i change it to certain reso's it doesnt look right. So i just leave it at it's native.

Your screen will be blurry at any non-native resolution, it's a property of LCDs. Buy the resolution you want when you get the computer.

    I'm moving this to hardware.

Depending on your graphics driver settings, things will either stretch or black bars will appear at the sides of the screen. Regardless, if you go lower than the native pixels on both edges of the screen, things will start lookign blurred.

My ex-roommate always used non-native resolutions and the only thing it did was stretch the screen.
