Any 2.5" SATA SSD that has M.2 SSD inside when cracked & pried open?

Why buy a converter like this, when I'd say the chips are the same (at the lower price segment) ?

There was a time when 9.5 mm vs 7 mm drives had a small Adapter to make 7 mm = 9.5 mm

There was a 2.5" WD HDD which was easily pried open without damage and internal drive was removeable.

So, any 2.5" SATA SSDs that anyone knows off that have the m.2 hidden inside?

It's meant to re-purpose an existing drive pulled from an M.2 system, after replacing it with a higher capacity version, for instance, or because the laptop has died.

Gathered a dual M.2 to SATA adapter + 2x mSATA to M.2 adapter + UASP-capable SATA to US 3.0 adapter to redeploy two small-ish mSATA drives as a portable drive. In theory this should have trim working over usb, but haven't gotten around to verifying that. Not sure it makes a lot of sense economic-wise, but it's fun to try and it should also be capable of maxing out USB 3.0 bandwidth.
