If you would have any chance of testing the 7K320 and WD3200BEKT on your system it would be![]()
Maybe some new reviews will come up. I'm hoping for Storage review as they do the most thorough reviews.

Where is K-TRON, I think he has a 7k320.
I have a Seagate 160 7200.2 too, it came with the laptop, may be I'll swap it in and run some benchmark. -

Han, I dont have my 7K320's.
Something came up, and my parents are driving up to my college next weekend with the harddrives.
I will test them then, I am really sorry that I couldnt give results earlier. I had the drives scheduled to arrive the day before I went on vacation (the week before college started), but the drives were coming from California, and their was a hurricane or something which caused the drives to arrive three days later than expected. There was nothing I could do to get them earlier. I provided hdtune benchmarks, and that was hard, being my brother is 8 yrs old, and I think installing pcmark would be very hard for him to do for me.
Next weekend for sure I will do benchies. I bought two drives, so I will do XP startup comparisons with PC mark, with one harddrive, and then one with raid 0 (over two drives), to get Raid comparisons.
I hope my 7K320's can do 9.7Mb/sec like Han's

No problem buddy, take your time
I'm curious about that as well.
Will have vantage up very soon. -

Well 'confirm'.. your results are a bit different, again. Now I've seen the following XP Startup Scores for the 7200.3: 7.8, 9.7, 9.9, 10.1 MB/sec.
While some of your scores are lower than Han's and 7K320 results.
Very strange. I've never seen such big differences when running PC Mark under XP. -
but at least we know that the driver is way faster that what's tom's posted.
-
So who knows it may be due to controller issues, different version and firmwares or something else. I don't know.
As for now I would not know which 320GB/7200rpm drive is the fastest. It makes sense to base your buying decision on other cirteria: price, warranty, power consumption, noise and whether (you believe) you need a freefall sensor.
By the way Han, is your XP partition NTFS or FAT32? -
Mine if NTFS...
I'm thinking Tom's might get a scrwed up HDD
BTW, I was having trouble to get vantage result. Sorry for the delay, I'll try to post it as soon as possible. -
from my experience, Hitachi HDDs are always noisy and run hotter than others .. They have fast models though.
currently I like Seagate
just to share -
Mine is also NTFS and one partition. What is your firmware revision Han?
-
Han, Prema, could you guys run PC Mark Vantage in Vista and post the results?
-
The HDD score was 4120!
Here is the new benchmark when I ran it again.
I challenge all the 7k320 and WD 320BEKT owners -
Wow. Now waiting for 7200.4
-
Getting my 7k320's on Sunday, so hopefully Sunday night/Monday I will have benchies for you. Man, I hope the 7K320 does 10.063mb/sec, just so I can say I beat Han

Here are the benchmarks I got for the Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 and 7K320, respectively. I cloned the 200 to the 320 drive and then used that as primary harddisk, so this should be a rel. fair comparison. (Don't know, where the difference in CPU usage comes from, though...
.)
BTW: Both of these disks run absolutely quiet, and I also did not experience any of the problems regarding heat or vibration that others have reported here...Attached Files:

Thanks wutz !
Wuahaha, my 7200.3 is still faster
-
****, you're right - I think I need to buy a new harddisk yet again...!!!
-
Does pc specs effect the results for PC Mark/Vantage?
-
-
Also your acces time is too high for 7K320. -
-
@HAN
You can get the revision info by clicking on the "advanced" tab under the "System" section in PCMark05. It´s the last information on the page.
Mine says "Product Revision String SD13" -
Here are some for WD. This is on a FRESH install. Hope to get Seagate and Hitachi if possible and test them with the same condition.
Score was 6061.
Any 320GB 7200rpm owners willing to run PC Mark?
