are there any out there? i checked ebay, couldn't find any, but didn't look too hard anywhere else..
i'm thinking of buying one this summer to replace the 40 gb 4200 rpm i have in my HP laptop right now. i'd then throw the current one in an enclosure and use it as external

You won't find one on eBay because they don't exist yet...

alright, i didn't think they were out yet.

i might just have to get a 5400rpm then, though i would much rather go for the 7200. hopefully by the end of summer seagate will have theirs out.

    thanks for the replies!

One option would be to take the old hard drive and put it in an external usb case. That would give you around 100GB of storage while still having the super fast hard drive. You don't need a fast hard drive for storage.

yeah, that's my plan all along.
but still, i'd rather get an 80 than a 60 gig if possible. we'll see how summer turns out.

i have a good amount of music as well as videos on my harddrive, combine that with 3 EA Sports titles that i have installed at any given time, i'm at about 33 gigs right now.. maybe 60 would be ok, but obviously the more the better :)

I'd move the music and movies over to the slower drive, where speed will not be an issue.

The 5400 RPM 100GB 2.5" drive is the Seagate Momentus 5400.2. I've seen it at Best Buy for $199. Hitatchi is coming out with a 5400 RPM 100GB drive in May.
