I'm planning on reviving/polishing my 7-year old tablet PC with Ubuntu or Android, to take notes with it in lectures. But since the machine is old, the stock battery barely holds any charge and needs to be replaced. While I was digging into replacement batteries that cost around $120-$180, I found companies providing battery "refill" for $69. It was previously mentioned in this thread years ago, and I'm wondering if anyone had a recent experience with this type of service.

If you can trust (local) people doing the work to:
Put in the highest capacity/quality cells, along with the proper protective/safety circuitry and warranty their work at a fair price with no/minimal damage to your current battery 'shell' - then go for it.
If, on the other hand, the experience with trying to set this up/communicate with them leaves you with more questions than answers - I'd say that $120/180 to 'revive' your old system to full working potential is a small price to pay for the additional piece of mind.
Good luck. -
The company that provides the service gives 1-year warranty on all refilled batteries. Someone previously mentioned in 2008 that they are quite slow on their schedule, so I just want to find out if that has changed any better these days.
Any Recent Experiences with Battery Refill Service?
