    Well, I can tell you that the Western Digital hard drive haven't shipped yet. ;) I've been looking all over for them.

    Basically this is NOT a problem with core duo, but rather affects all platforms. There is quick registry fix that should help a great deal, but is not a complete fix:

    The only problem with this fix is that it reverts if you resume from standby, but reapplies itself once you restart.

    Yes, read that article. It is really interesting. Though no AMD platform was tested, it looks like it is same for all platforms (irrespective of P-M or Core Duo).

    ASUS laptops with integrated USB cameras have problems, as it can not be disconnected, but fix did improbe things.

    But another dell which has integrated USB hub( Why hub? every MB now-a-days has 8 USB ports) it did not work.

    But, it looks like it will work fine on most laptops.

    And finally it looks like Core-Duo has similar or better battery life compared to P-M in typical usage.( which is good!!).
