Well as per title. Whenever i plug my headphones in, sometimes, the speakers still plays the sound. Only when i turn in a few times, then it mutes on its own. However, i turn them again, the sound comes back on. I suspect its a hardware issue though but i wonder if there is any app available to shut them down while it is plugged as i hate going down to the service centre, kinda a hassle.

Theres no such thing! The computer automatically turns speakers off when headphones are fully inserted into the jack. This sounds like a hardware problem.

I sent it back to the service centre once and those dudes didnt even fix it properly. Are jacks connected to the motherboard? So if i need a change i have to change the whole thing?

They can be connected to the motherboard, especially if it is a laptop.

If you are running Vista, Check the Sound > Playback devices. Try disabling the speaker from there. This might disable your jack too though.

Sounds like a driver/software problem to me.

It's the audio driver that handle that kind of stuff.

But if twisting the plug in the jack makes the speakers go in and out, it sounds like there's a harware bug with a sensor somewhere or something.

Try using another pair of headphones. Sometimes, if the headphones are crappy quality and doesn't give good enough connection, the audio driver will malfunction.

Yeap, twisting them in and out shuts them. Twisting them again, makes them sound again.
