I've read the general blurb on generic batteries, what I'm looking for are actual experiences with T42-compatible generic batteries from ebay, preferably the current crop of 9-cells.
I bought a T42p which was listed as a T42, so got it for a good price, but the battery only lasts 1 hr. I'd rather not buy a genuine battery from Lenovo, as they're around $160.

The generic batteries available online are often defective; they're probably obtained from stocks that failed quality control. Often, they do not even work. The genuine thing is the only guaranteed purchase you can make.

Have you had any experience with them?
-
No, but a friend of mine did. Also I have seen numerous posts on this forum of people who complain that the generic batteries do not function properly.

Excellent, thanks for the (wallet damaging) info!

Yea I have a T43p, don't get batteries outside of Lenovo.
Any experience with T40 series generic batteries?
