I like to upgrade my lenovo sl400 and bought a Q9100 es on ebay.
after installed, the bios show it is a Core Duo at 2.26G, after enter win 7,it keeps on rebooting.

I compared the datasheet between duo and quad, found it very hard to enable quad cores on a motherboard not design to support it.so i like to block one die and use it like a dual core cpu.

the question is do i need to nail polish any pin to block the die? and which pin i need to nailpolish?

seems like it's sort of working without a pin mod.

Is there a BIOS update for your notebook?

Maybe try reinstalling win with the new CPU in there?

Maybe there is not enough power for it, so a volt mod could fix it?

no,cus it can't work, keep rebooting.

the VID seems no difference between quad and duo
