My screen is messed up. It's a brand new screen. I had Geeksquad put it in. The problem is, every other horizontal line is a slightly lighter shade than whatever color it is supposed to be. So if there are two lines in a row that are brown, one of those lines will be a slightly lighter shade of brown. Or if there are 50 lines of brown, 25 will be a slightly lighter shade. So it make things look like they have horizontal lines (except white areas of the screen, which are totally white).

Could this be a cable issue? Is it possible for me to open it up and possibly fix it myself? I don't trust Geeksquad anymore.

Geeksquad gave me my machine back with 2 GB missing. I fixed the memory problem my self. Some geeksquad loser tried to shove one of my memory cards in improperly, and it wasnt seated all the way. Looks like he slightly bent the grooves trying to shove it in there. I guess he didn't realize you're supposed to put it in at an angle, and then snap it down. Also there are scratches on top of my machine. Makes me wonder if they just toss the machines around.

Go tell them this. Do not let them get away; its time someone put them in their place.

You could try checking the cables, but it sounds like they damaged the screen when installing it. I would demand for them to repair your laptop to it's original condition (or replace your laptop). The damaged SO-DIMM slot may very well cause you much grief down the road since the poor contacts cause the computer to freeze, data to be lost, etc. So they owe you a motherboard, a top plastic piece, and a new screen. I'd contact Best Buy corporate if the store idiots give you trouble. If that fails, your state's attorney general would be a good turning point. Good luck.
