I had Anker but it would crash and stop working when transferring big amount of data (e.g. 100GB backups or when unpacking 10-30GB .rar archives) over the local network. I then switched to "StarTech's" Adapter which worked fine but isn't available for me anymore.

Any USB 3.0 to ethernet adapters that you can recommend which works fine for big amount of data on high speeds over the local network?

    Amazon has a few offers:

Take your pick. They are all pretty much same tech and probably roll of dice if it breaks or not. Never found these kinds of things good for long term use, just for the occasional need for fastest transfers compared with wi-fi or only ethernet available.

Most of those products you link to are most likely produced by the same company, just sold under different brand names. You find that a lot with products such as these, USB hubs, etc, so there's probably not going to be much difference among them.

Oh crap...didn't know that. Then I guess all of them will have the same problem that the "anker" had... Connection freezing while transfering 20gb+ files with fast speeds (e.g. local home server). :/

Just to give you an idea of the (extremely low) standards bar for these things, the "good" ones are the ones with Realtek NICs inside...

My StarTech adapter worked fine so far but what is someone without an ethernet port supposed to do then?

Many laptops comes without ethernet ports these days :/ and so is mine.

Yep, yet another drawback of the modern laptop. Thin and light means thin and light in features and expansion.

Thin and light is castrated and impotent.

There are usage models that are best served by thin and lights. But anything with 'performance' in the requirements will never be one of them (performance of any aspect worth talking about).

@zakazak try using an externally powered USB 3.0 hub to connect your Anker adapter, for the sake of experiment. It may be your USB port not providing enough current for it.
