This is sort of an odd question, hopefully its in the right spot.
On my HP dv9000t, I have two headphone jacks, allowing me to listen to a dvd, music, etc simultaneously with two pairs of headphones. Is there a way for me to route sound to one jack or the other? For instance, I would like to play sound through external speakers that I have rigged up for a concert out of one jack, and listen to the next upcoming track with the other jack via a different program. So basically, I will be using two different programs, and I want to know if there is a way to isolate the program to only run out of one of the jacks so I can use the other for headphones. Hopefully that makes sense. I have no idea if this is possible or not, but any help would be appreciated. I realize there are alternatives, but I was just curious.

About 8 years ago I used to run a setup like you are asking with 2 sound cards in my desktop. I had to use 2 diff programs and specify different hardware for each.

Both jacks come from the same sound card, so unless you have a software mixer specifically for that card with the routing functionality you're out of luck.
I thought you were asking about routing sound signals via a switcher or router, which is completely different and much easier if you have a serial port and know hyperterminal
Any way to route sound?
