    Anybody interested in a WQXGA resolution for 17" laptops ?

    WQXGA=2560×1600
    IBM had QXGA displays, I havent seen them in other laptops.

    WQXGA really is far too high resolution for a 17". The Mobile GPUs won't handle gaming, or even modelling perhaps at that resolution. You should be looking for 1920 x 1200. 2560 x 1600 is used in 30" high end monitors such as the Dell 3007FPW.

    That being said, I don't know of any manafacturers that produce 17" WQXGA notebook LCDs. You probably need to look in a specalist notebook screen dealer, like screenTek, but I doubt you would find any.

    If people have enjoyed QXGA on 15" laptops (2048×1536), then WQXGA should not be a problem on 17" ones :)

    I've used WUXGA 1920x1200 on my 15.4"

    I wouldn't mind WQXGA on a 17", would be great for photo-editing.

    It should be an option. More options are never bad, it gives you more choice of what works for you.

    I would pay $200 more for a WQXGA screen than a WUXGA one :)

    With 1280 x 800 i'm feeling cramped for screen "real estate", and i'll soon be using a notebook with a 15.4 inch screen and WUXGA resolution. People think that kind of "pushes it" for resolution on a 15.4" screen, but they still offer it; so I don't really see a reason why WQXGA is out of the question for a 17 inch screen.

    As mentioned, i'm sure for image editing more screen space is never bad.

    The 1920x1200 on my brother's 17" already makes everything ridiculously tiny. Wanting 2560×1600 on that same screen just means you're a masochist. :p

    I'm using a WUXGA on a 17" and its not tiny at all.

    Anyone know if there are 24" monitors with WQXGA ? 30" is kinda too big.

    To each his own, I guess. But when you consider that 1920x1200 normally only appears in 24" sizes and above on desktop LCDs, the fact that it even exists on a 17" laptop display naturally means that it's already significantly squeezed down. Granted people tend to sit closer to laptop displays, but 2560x1600 on a 17" would be ridiculous. In fact, I don't think the technology exists to make a panel with that number of pixels in a 17" size.
