"It's amazing technology when you see something that is 30 feet long walking out of the printer as fast as you can walk it out," said Tim Peltzer, of Beeline and Blue.
The Canon Colorwave 900 is making its debut at Beeline and Blue on Ingersoll Avenue. It currently holds the title of fastest large-format color printer on the market.
"This equipment certainly has the opportunity to be that quantum leap and change print technology as we know it today," said Rick Bosworth, President of ReproMAX.
The printer this one replaced took hours to complete a single poster.
"Customers that come in and usually drop an item off or drop a project off and have to wait half a day, can now wait five minutes to have the same project," said Peltzer.
The printer shoots out projects at about a foot per second. Right now, Des Moines is one of just three places in the country you'll find one of these printers.
"Beeline has for many years been considered one of the leading wide-format print companies in the United States," Bosworth said.
When Canon was looking for places to test out their new machine, even major cities like Chicago couldn't compete with Des Moines.
New York City and Milwaukee are the only other places where Canon is testing the Colorwave 900.
Printing a 30-foot project from the printer will cost you just under $90.
