Does anyone here do whole disk encryption on their laptop? I just did a whole disk encryption on mine, and it certainly has a performance effect, but I think it;s worth it.

    What do you guys think?

I just looked at your sig, nice workstation - SAS is the best

I have not encrypted harddrive's before, but I have used TRUE CRYPT on my corsair fash voyager memory card. The speed loss from encryption is very minimal, in fact I cant see any on my memory card, but that may be different on a mechanical drive.
If you are in an environment like a school, or a train station, or in an area which has a lot of theft, I would use harddrive encryption to keep your files safe and to yourself.
