I change the contents, and then I fix checksum and save to .spd, then write to the module. But during verification, I get errors. And it seems that the contents are not changed.

Eg. The initial index value was 0x38 at 0x12, and when I change the value to 0x20, I get an error during verification that "index at 0x12 is 0x38, and should be 0x20" - which means that writing the contents was either unsuccessful or I'm not doing it right.

    Any ideas ?

Naw. It is supported. Everything upto the P45 is supported by this tool.
But I can't find a walkthrough on it. Have tried it with a no. of modules, desktops/laptops, etc - But refuses to work.

EDIT: Anyone know how to flash/edit/change the cas latency ? :p

You're talking about SPDtool -memory editor/writer - not SetFSB, right?
SPDtool is pretty simple: just go File > Read and choose the memory modules and you can change the settings. But before you write the new settings you should really test them first (ex: MemSet).
