I am wondering if the V2000z computer is compatible with the amd mt-40. I just built an MSI 1013 notebook and I'm not happy with msi quality so I am sending the barebone back and I have these components left over. I can rma them, but it would be a pain.

    I've got the following parts:
    AMD MT-40
    OCZ ddr400 1 gig
    Seagate 60gig 5400 rpm

Just curious if anyone has done a cpu upgrade.

The Turion MT and ML series are Pin-compatable and use the same power supply, so the upgrade is theortically possible (and safe). Whether or not anyone here has tried, I do not know, but I can tell you it will void the heck out of your warranty.

Yeah, I know about the warranty part. I doubt anything will happen to it. I'm just afraid of it breaking because of the new cpu.

Best buy has the V2570NR for $750. That seems to be a steal. I can sell off some of the inferior parts the computer and swap over my new parts and not take too bad of a money/time hit while having a computer I want.

Can i ask why you weren't happy with the MSI?

If you're planning to buy the v2000, i would do it off hpshopping and get the cheapest configuration (sempron cpu) and switch it out.

Sempron and turion have the same pin setting i think
