I just got a laptop, and should be receiving my 2 gigs of ram in the mail tomorrow. I was just curious if Vista will recognize them fine, or if I have to do some weird thing in BIOS (whatever that is, i see an option for bios though as the laptop boots up.) In addition, i was hoping to allocate more memory to my integrated video card once i have 2 gigs to play with, and is that something the Catalyst control center can do? Or again, something will happen automatically? Or something that needs done in BIOS?

You won't need to change any settings, vista will reconize the ram just fine. I think you IGP will allocate more ram automatically, but allocating more ram won't really do much in most cases. How much does it have now?

Thanks for your help. At 1gb total now, it's allocating 256mb of memory (leaving 750 for vista, hence why im upgrading)

Pop out the old ram and pop in the new ram.
Its a really good idea to check your new ram for errors with MemTest86+

Anything software/settings changes required after upgrading RAM?
