I know in device manager you can get information about what brand and model for your hard drive, DVD drive and so on. But, I do not see that for the Ram. I would like to know what brand and model # I have and if my 4gb of ram is split 2gb/2gb taking up both slots or if its just one 4gb ram, meaning I have another space free to put more Ram in.

If it helps any, I have a Toshiba M645-S4055

Download CPU-z. This will tell you and us all that is needed to find out what memory you are running and what chipset you have. You will be running 2x2GB modules no doubt. Depends on chipset if you can upgrade to 2x4GB or not.

Not sure if any will give you the brand (pretty insignificant in my view) but HPs Support Assistant will answer all the other question you asked. I assume Toshiba has some version of that as well?

Wouldn't it be much easier to take a screwdriver and remove two (possibly four) screws?

LOL, isn't pushing buttons easier than using a screw driver?

Anyway, there no telling exactly his level of dexterity; and getting over opening my brand new notebook for anything can be daunting especially if it may be your first time? That's a learning curve, I'd much prefer getting over with someone else's notebook.

In the time he created the thread, waited for answers, installed several programs only to find out they didn't tell the brand, I would have found it out in 2 minutes :p

Doesn't Everest show the details? Well, much more detail if you have the complete edition.
