I've never heard of this company but want to upgrade my T61p to 4GB of RAM, i have 2x1GB so i'd sell both of them to get a 2x4GB set, this RAM set made by Apacer is only about 100$ CAN, but i've never really gotten a definitive answer to RAM brands, is RAM just RAM for general consumer RAM? Or would i be best to go with one of the more recognized brands like OCZ, Kingston, Hynix or the like? I know that for gaming RAM i'd definitely go to OCZ for that, but i just need some more RAM for games like GTA IV, specifically.

As long as they've got a lifetime warranty (the 'standard' in the RAM commodity market) and you don't pay a restocking fee if they don't work for you, I say go for it.

I bought a no-name, third world, opened and almost forgotten in the back of a drawer 512MB RAM module for a client that is still working 7 years later (in a printer). The only thing I asked the store clerk? Is there a no restocking fee return possible on this thing? As I wiped the dust from it on my suit. :D

When you get it, run Memtest overnight and also run IntelBurn Test 2.3 for 10 minutes or so on the new modules. That should be enough to let you know if you can sell your old ones or look for better RAM for your ThinkPad.

    Cheers!

At first, I saw 2x4GB for $100 and thought  I should go buy that before you do.

Then I actually clicked the link and was significantly less impressed :D

$100 for generic RAM off ebay with a $10 shipping fee isn't that impressive though. There's cheaper brand name directly from etailers.

yeah it's just that if you go look at large Best Buy stores the prices are incredibly inflated for what they are, and it's not even one of the well known brands.

Apacer doesn't make memory. They rebrand memory modules manufactured by Micron, Hynix, SEC, El Pida and Qimonda
As long as it carries a lifetime warranty you will be okay

What the hell is this doing in that eBay seller's return policy?

How exactly, may I ask, is anyone going to be able to tell if the RAM is bad or not without installing and using it? I'd be careful before buying from this seller.
