Hi Everybody
I Am Offered An Imac 7,1 Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz 20" ( Ma877ll ) For A Good Price .
Its Cpu Is T7700 2.4 Ghz/4mb Cache/800mhz Fsb .
I Tried To Get To Know Its Motherboard But I Failed !so
1) What Is Its Motherboard ?
2) I Wonder If Its Cpu Is Upgradeable To Some T9300 Upto T9900 ?
For More Speed And Cache.
I Heard That Some Pc's Recognizes Its Factory Devices And Parts !
3) Is That Imac 7,1 One Of These ?
Thanks For Every Help

It sounds like an 800MHz Socket P CPU. Therefore, you can put up to a T9500 in it (2.6GHz) or an X9000 (2.8GHz, unlocked multiplier). They will both run hotter than the T7700. That's all I know, though.

What I know (but not 100% for sure though...) is that iMac systems have the RAM and the CPU/GPU soldered in.
But mostly, I would be leary of putting in a higher performing (hotter) cpu even if you could into a system that is known for running warm/hot - especially when the manufacturer is also known for not being afraid of throttling the performance all for the sake of the 'looks' of the system. In the end, you may be getting less performance out of it than with what is in there now (because of the subpar cooling Apple systems have, by design).
Curious what a 'good price' is?
Judging by the technological year of this system and the performance that that entails - a good price to me would be around $150 and even then I would have absolutely no use for it (except as a novelty).
Unless you absolutely have a need for Mac OS/x, I would give this a pass. -
can't you install win 7 on macs? I'm no mac expert but, im fairly certain the intel units have cpu sockets like any other laptop though the gpu could very well be soldered in.

The iMacs use socket P processors.
You can find those iMac socket P chips on Ebay. Not sure if iMacs with 65nm chips (T7700) are upgradeable to the 45nm chips though.
-
I would think the 45nm would run cooler being it's a smaller die.

While I never recommend an upgrade to anything other than RAM, HDD/SSD and O/S, it does seem like it might be possible with this system.
See:
Is it possible to upgrade the processor in the Aluminum iMac models? @ EveryMac.com
However, for the risk of buying this 'at a good price' and taking a chance that the cpu you bought might not work - not to mention the time and risk of taking such a system apart to upgrade it - it is not a good risk/benefit investment of my time.
A newer system (even some netbooks) might be a better/wiser overall purchase decision here.
Unless, as stated previously, Mac OS/x is a pre-requisite. -
The motherboard is likley to fail before the cpu.

cdoublejj, why do you make such irrelevant posts as the above?

might be soldered -
PLEASE WOULD ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT MOTHER BOARD IT GOT ?????????
AGAIN IT IS AN Imac 7,1 Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz 20" Ma877ll.
THANKS -
The motherboard is proprietary to Apple, and it probably labeled an AM877LL.
Here's the parts breakdown (google is your friend)

And based on this it's most likely soldered:

Typing in capitals and using lots of punctuation marks actually makes it a lot less likely that people will help you.
-
Holy crap thats almost unheard of with type of CPU on such a modern MB.

THANK YOU ALL
KNOWING HOW TO REPLACE PARTS IN THE IMAC FROM ifixit.com ,I CONSIDER IT RISKY ENOUGH TO GO FOR IT. -
WHY DO YOU INSIST ON TYPING IN ALL CAPS!?
<lowercase ftw!> -

I just died there -
You can upgrade the iMac7,1. The X7900 is confirmed to work.
CPU upgrade 2.0GHz to 2.8Ghz ( C2D Extreme X7900 ) - iMac Intel 20" EMC 2133 and 2210 - iFixit
Can the iMac7,1 (Santa Rosa platform) handle a Socket P processor for the Santa Rosa Refresh platform or Montevina Platform?
Highest end Santa Rosa Socket P chip is the X7900. Santa Rosa Refresh Socket P chipis the X9000. Montevina Socket P chip is the QX9300.
