Oh holy **** this thing is totally sick.
http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/home/index.htm
I can't believe that so few people know of this device, even though it was first made public in early March. I'm definitely readying my wallet to buy one.
EDIT: The title was written in heat of the moment, and not meant to offend. I for one have been eagerly anticipating the Apple Tablet, but didn't know that an open source competitor was already in the making. Perhaps we'll now see the Apple tablet have something to surpass?
-
Reading the FAQ:
Q. Can it run Mac OS X?
A. No.
I'll pass then
-
Oh holy ***. Wrong forum. This has nothing to do with Apple.
-
^^^^
Ditto... move this please mods ! -
Man that site is pretty badly designed...
anyway, why is this thread here? and why did you call it Apple tablet when it can't run OS X? -
He wasn't calling it the apple tablet, he was saying apple's yet to be confirmed or denied apple tablet should in some way be jealous of this netbook.
Also yes I agree, why is this here. Curious though, why would it "eat its heart out" when no one but apple knows if/what the apple tablet will be rocking spec wise? -
The tittle does say " Apple Tablet, Eat Your Heart Out"
Anyways, I'll just stick with my iPod touch
I also fail to see what's so awesome about this.
It's probably one of those products that you pre order that never makes it to market or take years longer *Cough Pandora cough* -
Looks like flame bait from a PC lover if you ask me. Isn't there a rule against that?
-
Okay I think this thing is BS. "The Touch Book uses an innovative ARM processor from Texas Instruments that delivers the power of a traditional desktop computer but uses a fraction of the energy." How do you get the power of a traditional desktop computer with a chip meant for smart phones.
-
That's why it didn't make any sense to me, but after your explanation, I realize what his intent is. Still, I'm baffled by his logic, that thing won't even begin to compare to Apple's design let alone say "eat your heart out". To be honest, that tablet is design is quite ugly, when I first saw it, I thought it was a Sager NetBook or something. I can now see the little Apple influence in the design, but the blockyness of the casing, ugly hinge, along with the nasty screen bevel....

Troll!!

I'm not sure why you would be so quick to judge. I own the closest thing to an Apple Tablet (iPod Touch) and have consistently shown myself to be OS-neutral on these forums.
I find this device interesting only because my eyes had long ago glazed over browsing the sea of 1GB, 1024x600, intel atom N270 netbooks out there. I knew that ARM devices were on the horizon, but didn't know that they'd be either ready so soon or designed so interestingly. -
ARM processors are being coupled with powerful chipsets that enable decoding of up to 1080p video (Nvidia Tegra), something which is far beyond the vast majority of current netboks.

Awww Luke, not you too :c
I hope that you're not serious. -
Wuah! Triple post. Nice one. Looks like the sites experiencing technical difficulties because it's not loading for me. However, judging by everyones response, I shouldn't expect much.
Edit: Below - 'Multi-Quote' next to the Edit/Quote buttons. -
Sorry, didn't know exactly how to embed multiple quotes in a single reply
-
Your being called a troll not exactly for what you posted, but where you posted it. How can you compare it to a product that is not even out yet? You think it's a nice product, and thats fine. But an apple user would have no use for such a product in general so therefore not an apple forum type of post.
-
Oh wow, I just noticed the Multi-Quote button, I usually just quote some one copy it then quote the next person and past it.

That makes sense. I take it that fewer Apple fans than I expected have themselves looked into speculations on the upcoming Apple Tablet, and don't recognize that this "touch book" captures the essence of what the new Apple device is projected to be. I was hoping to encourage speculation on what Apple would be able to do with a tablet, given that this Touch Book has already shown that this category can be incredibly game changing.
