    Check it out!

Man, this is GREAT news! I hate Nvidia after they screwed me over.... TWICE.

Apple just went up a few spots in my book...

I honestly hope Nvidia goes bankrupt. I've been an Nvidia supporter ever since 3dfx went belly up, even after they screwed me over the first time. But man, after the second... I just hope the report is accurate...

Good! I remember my nightmares with my m1330 with that crappy 8400gs, ATI will hit nvidia.

A closed environment built with ATI is just as closed as that built with NVidia. Still won't buy from the Jobs Hegemony.

I wonder if apple is betting on the core i3/5 on chip graphics for the new macbooks. After all, intel has been boasting about that for a long time now. Maybe apple thinks that's sufficient and won't be using either GPU company.

Doubt it. Many Apple users use their machines for intensive video editing work, and require a discrete graphics card. Thus, Apple will likely be going with discrete ATI GPUs in the new higher-end Macs.

i dont think that even 9600GT is to be called enough for intensive video editing...
well lets hope for apple to introduce high-end graphics into their macbooks rather than mainstream graphics

My guess is that Apple is just trying to throw their weight around to get a more favorable deal. I've got a hunch the two of them will work it out.

LOL... Even the most powerful GPU on Macbook/Macbook Pro sucks compared to even some cheap gaming laptops.

BTW... video editing is for 99% of the time, CPU dependant. An integrated graphic card won't be any slower than a discrete graphic card in a Video editing machine.

I dont know why people are getting excited over this just because of their bad experiences with nvidia doesnt mean all users hate them... i actually prefer them over ati and so do many other users... basically if you dont like nvidia you dont HAVE to buy them so DONT buy them... its that simple... Same goes for apple, they should tell nvidia to fix their chips or we are buying ati...

I hate Nvidia and won't be purchasing anything with their chips inside. I've been burned twice and I don't plan on giving them another shot at screwing me over. It's funny how these things work... you love a company and wonder why others hate it until you get screwed over and join the club.... lol

Regarding Demerjian...... well, I can only hope this time he's right. :p

i hope nvidia goes bankrupt because they suck and ATI becomes the only graphics card manufacturer in the world because this will make decision making very easy

First, nvidia is not going to go bankrupt because of this

Second, even if nvidia magically did go bankrupt, intel is still here

Thrid, if amd was the only graphics manufacturer, their prices would go up since they have no reason to sell cheaply since there would be no competition.

I sincerely hope that NVIDIA lives on. Think about it, if ATI is the only GPU manufacturer around with no competition. They'll jack up their prices and give out shoddy products simply because they can.

How advanced do you think CPU technology would have gotten if Intel and AMD weren't competing?

Nvidia wont go bankrupt theyll just bring out a load of new gpu's which will beat ati it always happens and anyway i can stand ati gpus cos of the poor driver support in notebooks

+ the majority of nvidia gpus only get fried beacause of the user overclocking them or not looking after their laptop properly

There will likely be a switchable option between the Intel GMA and a dedicated ATI/nVidia card. Although given Apple's history of being extremely cheap with components, they might forgo the dedicated card on the base Macbook Pro models.

WHAT? Mine fried not because I overclocked I didnt overclock it, NVIDIA LOST many clients since they never admited that those cores were faulty and BAD, also for me nvidia is just cloning ati, ATI always uses newer tech and then nvidia uses it, an example? directx 10.1, GDDR5, 55nm, 40nm...

Nvidia series 8000 are $#!#"#! sh$#, crappy and faulty.

Sure nvidia is good but Ill not buy nvidia for some time....

Every time you're tempted to believe one of Charlie's articles, just remember that you're believing news where the only source is the brain of this guy:

The point isn't that people had poor experiences with Nvidia. Anybody who has owned a number of electronics understands that manufacturers occasionally release models with crappy designs. Rather, I think people are angry with a company that did some very unethical decisions; they knew that the extent of the defects was far greater than they initially admitted, and they had known that their products were a risk for some time before the failures began to happen.

Not only did they screw over customers with their deliberate withholding of information, but they even managed to rape the manufacturers such as Dell, HP, and Apple; and you can imagine the damage done to their reputations simply because *one* parts provider for their mainstream models completely screwed up and refused to own up to it? The costs of lost sales as a result of damaged reputation is impossible to quantify, but is surely immense.

Personally, I really think that Apple is making the right choice. Freezing Nvidia may lock Apple out of any potentially useful parts that the video maker comes out with, but it shows that they want to protect their consumers from a dishonest manufacturer. It also shows that they value their own reputation as a company, even if that means missing out on some future goodies.
