    Hi everyone,

I bought some arctic silver ceramique and the cleaning solvents (articlean 1 & 2) recently and wanted to use it. But when I opened it up, it doesn't appear like the stock heatsink had any thermal paste... instead, it looks like some thermal tape that they used. Can I safely remove this "tape" and replace it with the artic silver ceramique thermal paste?

    Attached are some pics

    thanks

For the CPU you're fine. For the GPU, it depends how thick the tape is. The short answer is probably not. You can check out the link in my sig for some info on what to put instead of tape like that.

Yes, you can. I have done it. Just crape off the tape, clean it very well and apply the AS as per the instructions. It will make some difference is your temps.

thanks for the advice. I took off the thermal pads/tape and added the arctic silver ceramique.

I know it takes some time for the paste to break in, but it looks like temperatures are down already :)

From the looks of it, thermal grease/paste >> thermal pads/tape
