My laptop is overheating and locking up. I was looking for help, and it seems that's problematic. I don't have it with me, but I think I have a 6130 series notebook.
What is this Arctic Silver stuff?
I assume you apply it to your processor or something?
Does it void the warranty?
How long is the warranty anyway?
I've had mine longer than a year.
My wife is out buying a fan mat for us.
I also heard that some RAM is corrupt. I wonder if there's a way to detect that?
How much is ram going for these days?

It's a compound used to help conduct heat from the CPU to the fan. It will void your warranty. If you're asking how long yours is, it's probably a year. The cooler mat will help, but you also might consider doing a system restore.
I doubt you have bad RAM and that won't lead to overheating anyway. Check crucial for prices. -

A system restore is where XP saved all the info on the computer at a checkpoint during a specific day and time, like if you install a program, it usually sets a checkpoint and it also does it periodically. You won't lose all your documents, it just adjusts all of the settings back to what they were when you choose a certain date to restore to. If you do a clean install, then you will lose everything.

Actually I meant a fresh install, often that will remove all sorts of problems that could be using system resources to make your machine run more hot. Unless you had this problem since day 1...
