I know I want to buy an SSD for my new Lenovo T420, but I am having a hard time choosing between an mSATA SSD and a normal one.

I could get a MyDigitalSSD 128GB 50mm Bullet Proof mSATA for $239.99. It has pretty good read/write speeds and I would be able to keep the hard drive for extra space.

My other option is to get rid of the hard drive and replace it with a full sized SSD. My maximum budget for this would be $250.00, so I could either get a large OCZ drive with fast read/write speeds (but these seem to have a lot of problems) or I could get a smaller, reliable model with slower speeds.

Does anyone know how reliable the MyDigitalSSDs are? If they are good I might go with that. Otherwise, what is my best option?

I'd get an mSATA drive and an M4 - what a great laptop that would be... speed of an SSD, with SSD backup on the same machine ;)

I *still* haven't received the Renice drive I ordered from MDD. I would not recommend that reseller to anyone. At least not if you're expecting to actually receive the product on a timely basis. As for the drives themselves, well, can't say without it actually being here.

I picked up an Intel 80gb 310 mSATA for my T420 and it's thus far been performing perfectly. It certainly boots and shuts down faster. And apps certainly launch quicker. But is it enough to justify the expense, that's a hard call to make. The 500gb 7200rpm seagate HD is pretty quick too. I don't think anyone with a 7200rpm drive is going to be blown away with the improvement. Compared to a 4200RPM drive, sure.

I have the 64gb MyDigitalSSD in my Y560 and am considering getting one for my tablet as well. It's not as fast as the X25-M in my wife's Inspiron Duo, but it's faster than the stock drive in my tablet.

I just ordered an MyDigitalSSD mSATA, 64 gb for $125. I ordered it on Friday June 24th, got a tracking number today (6/28), and it's due to arrive in California on 7/5 (from Syracuse, NY). I've gotten an appropriate number of confirmations and updates, and in terms of the buying process, I couldn't be happier. Of course, I haven't installed it into my E420s yet so I can't speak to performance! And it was listed as "in stock" on the website.

I got mine from NY to CA in 4 days, with the slowest shipping option. I have read some of the complaints though, use a CC that allows chargebacks and you should be protected from baggery.

I'm not sure if any of you will check this thread, but could you possibly update with any issues, problems (or lackthereof) of the MydigitalSSD Drives you purchased. I'm trying to decide between them, and spending a little more money on the Samsung 800 series...

Thanks very much for your help!

They are pretty well known around here and several SSD websites. In fact, there is a user here that might even be able to get you discounts and/or help with your order. There is a huge thread for the 128GB product, just search a bit. I own one and couldn't be happier. I wouldn't get a 2.5" SSD since you could put in a huge HDD and have the best of both worlds.

See above. The user is a retailer for MyDigitalSSD and his posts are very accurate for stock count and delivery dates.

I would like to toss in that the 32GB Super Cache is also working great and soon we will be replacing the regular 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB with a better solution at the same low price.

Inventory is tight in the U.S. right now but will start flowing again next week.

I picked up a Samsung 128GB mSATA SSD (MZMPA128HMFU) on eBay. Got it installed last night, working like a charm. I am using it as extra storage right now as I have the Samsung 256GB 830 drive for my primary.

Found some here too, you can prob get it cheaper if you use the make an offer.
http://www.itcreations.com/view_product.asp?product_id=29564 He also has them on eBay too. The guy I got mine from is sold out.

My MyDigitalSSD has been solid since I got it. No problems with slow shipping or replies either. They even helped work out a solution for cheaper international shipping to me. Couldn't be happier with it.
