I don't see why they would INCREASE??? They're likely to decrease unless there is some expected shortage that I don't know about :)

Actually, I think it will go up again. Just look at the price difference now between DDR and DDR2. A 1GB stick of DDR333 costs as much as two 1GB DDR2-667 sticks (last time I checked NewEgg). Ram is always a roller coaster where price is concerned.

It would depend on whether the dropping RAM prices are due to an overabundance of supply (which will level out eventually) or if it's due lower manufacturing costs. DDR prices haven't dropped as much as DDR2, because the market is flooded with DDR Chips

I bought mine before I even got my notebook (as I was worried about price increases & availability). :)

I'm pretty sure they are supposed to increase soon. I would get it now as prices are very low.

I think the prices have bottomed out and may start to rise soon. A module which I watch went up in price last week. At the beginning of the year the RAM manufacturers ramped up production expecting that Vista would boost sales. both of new notebooks and of extra RAM for existing notebooks. However, potential customers failed to cooperate and buy enough RAM so there has been a glut. RAM is currently being sold at a loss and production has been cut back.

DDR will cost more because it is old technology that is soon to be phased out. there is less demand for them and scarcity of the item will probably go up so prices will rise for DDR. but DDR2 will plateau or fall unless there is a shortage or something like the taiwanese earthquake a few years back.
