I am thinking of buying these items in a sale/auction, and they sounded nice and are really cheap, but I'm not sure if they are any good.
Items:
- Visiontek ATI RADEON HD 2600 PRO 512MB DDR2 8x AGP Graphics Card
- Creative SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 2 ZS PCI Soundcard
- 512MB Samsung PC3200 DDR Desktop Memory
- 128MB Samsung PC2700 DDR Desktop Memory (Only because my PC only has a mere 256MB of RAM in it)
- 3-Port Hi-speed FIREWIRE (IEEE 1394) Connectivity PCI Card (Not sure what this is/does)
Reason:
I'm just considering of getting these because my PC is old (2001) and quite embarrassing so I was gonna upgrade the parts inside (and eventually turn it into a Gaming PC). So, are these parts worth buying??
Note: I will probably spend $25 on everything. (I said cheap)

They sound like they need to be asked over at DTR. Motion for a /thread.

Well, I'm gonna take out pretty much all of the parts anyways and start over. Why not keep the parts that are useful and build upon that?? And my PC Fund probably won't get started until Summer, I'm only considering of getting these parts because they are on sale for cheap.

Are you sure its even compatible/will fit in your machine. Most of the stuff seems like junk, but then again, may be better than your 8 yeard old computer. Maybe save your money and buy something new/newer

It's not that great of a deal. Those are all really old, and the combined value is even less than $25...

Thats a pretty good deal considering the price of ddr memory.
If you have a system like he has, chances are it is for work, not the so called work kids this day call work (gaming, youtubing etc)
For the money thats a good deal, considering you can get a bit more performance out of your system and then turn around and sell stuff if you dont need it.
If he pushes the price higher, I would back off a bit since nothing is oh so special

I would get them thats a great deal. Most of these people are just crazy with power. Why spend money on a new system when your old one works fine and you dont need all that power? If your old system basically meets your needs just keep it untill it dies. $25 for some ram and a decent GPU is a good deal to me. As long as they run you have nothing to lose. Well exept $25

how much gaming are you intending to do? and what cpu do you have now? 2001 CPU might not cut it for the newer games depending on what you intend to play.
