    Hi All,

I am looking to upgrade my DDR2 RAM from 4GB to 8GB. Making this jump is expensive as some RAM kits I've seen cost on the order of $350! However, there are savings to be had if I go for slower speed 667 vs 800 Mhz. My main question, does the speed matter?

Also are all RAM built the same (i.e. Crucial the same as TopRAM)? Just so happens that these are the two extremes (Crucial DDR2 800 - $345, TopRAM DDR2 667 - $195).

    Cheers,
    ScKaSx

Speed matters a little bit, usually only measurable in benchmarks.

All DDR2 memory is the same. DDR2 is a JEDEC standard.

By the way, I would say that 4GB-> 8GB of RAM is a waste of money for most people.
