    Hi guys, I was wondering...
If all laptops are basicly made by just 3 companies: Quanta, Compal, Asus.
I mean that their internal basic machinery is always made by just those companies.
Then, Why there is so much difference in the quality of the different brands? Shouldn't be all laptops be just as good as an Asus, Compal or Quanta?
Most laptops have good brand hardware, so, what does really make the difference?

I think you're forgetting couple of other company; Mitac, FIC, AOpen, Uniwill, Clevo, just to name a few.

Toshiba makes their own laptop (i think, only 1 or 2 of their notebook line are made by other company). ALL apple laptop turns out to be made by other company! even Macbook PRO!

A good laptop or a bad one is decided by the QC department, if their tolerance are greater, most probably u get cheaper laptops but lousier quality. Vice versa u know it.

Let's suppose that Brand A wants to have Quanta and Compal build laptops for them. The laptops Quanta and Compal produce will not be any different because Brand A is telling them exactly how to make the laptops to their specifications.

Notebook manufacturers own-brand laptops (such as the Compal HEL80) are usually of very good quality because they don't have any cost restraints like they do when they produce a Dell laptop - they can 'show their stuff' in a sense.
