As the title suggests, I want to know if I should wait for the A10's. I hear they have superb graphical capabilities compared to intel's i series, and they will probably be in notebooks under ~$500.

Check the previews such as the one at anandtech and decide for yourself.

    6 days until Sleekbooks ^_^

I think the initial price makes it a hard sell, definitely some coupons/discounts would make it a easier choice.

if it overclocks well on both cpu and gpu sides, the A10-4600m could be a decent buy if you could find it at a correct price. 799 dollars is way too high in my opinion.

If you want a basic notebook that can do gaming on occasion then yes. It should be significantly less expensive than comparable Intel slim notebooks.

it looks like they will be too expensive to be worth while over intel + kepler

Kepler is irrelevant here since the user wants a $500 notebook capable of gaming which means IGP. Well unless there's another Asus K53TA miracle, but I doubt it.

But as far as IGP goes, Trinity will be absolute winner over Intel. It is a fully capable gaming GPU at 720p.

Agreed on the Trinity A10's power. But for $500, you're not going to find a computer using the A10. Maybe the A8, though (but still not at launch). HP has released a couple of Trinity-equipped versions of its Pavilion laptops, so that should give you a general idea of pricing (minus a bit with the eventual sales).

Those HP prices are surprisingly expensive. You can buy a Llano A8 MX machine with a 6750m for $750-800. But the point still stands that a Trinity notebook will have a significant advantage over Intel and likely even over any Intel + dedicated GPU machine in both power consumption and performance.

yeah 15,6" is not enough since 16/9 became standard. I always go for 17" much more confortable for all usual tasks.

    imo a 17" with A10-4600M on board at 549 dollars = WIN

I think he's hoping smaller, as am I. I want 13" 1080p. The Asus UX31 zenbook is looking quite tasty, but it's Intel and over $1000!

I'm hoping even the 17W Trinity in a 13" super thin notebook would even be great with 1600x900 screen.

i'll never understand why you so like small screens especially with high res, it's an eye killer.

    IMHO perfect size/resolution:
    11" - 12" = 1366x768
    13" - 14" = 1600x900
    15" - 17" = 1920x1080
    18"+ = 1920x1200 minimum, preferably 2048x1536 or 2560x1600.

13" to me is perfect size for portability.

absolutely, I'm a very mobile person and I'm always carrying my gear around so lightweight 13' would suit me perfectly
    although I'll always hope for a 16:10 ^_^

Well yeah 1680x1050 at 13" would be ideal but realistically that won't happen.

That would be wonderful ;). Anyway I will be happy for any kind of 13", since Llano did not have a single one. I'm still with monstrous 15.6" near 1366X768 resolution.
