Wondering when and if the intel g3's will arrive and if they are planning on 320GB.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Fall/winter. Maybe.
-
Do you have any press releases confirming 320GB?
-
Apparently there seemed to have been - at least on paper - even a 320GB G2 - but I don't think anybody ever got one... -
Some sources say 80gb, 160gb, 300GB and 600GB.

nice i wonder if they will be faster then the c300
-
Not till 2011, I am not waiting that long. G2's may be slated for EOL but again all computer tech is eventually EOL.........
-
Why do you say g3 intel wont be out till 2011?? Many sources state q4 2010. I think the 600GB version is a load of BS seems like too big of a jump. But the smaller 25nm process should easily allow 320GB considering they even thought about this size for their g2's. Seems about 99% that 320GB G3 intel SSD's will be out Q4 2010. And who said anything about waiting for them to be released. I am still gonna get a 256GB RealSSD c300. Then if the 320GB G3 Intels have performance on par with the c300 I will sell the realssd for a very small loss and get the 320GB intel drive. 320GB of internal space is perfect for me Really I only need about 128GB of internal space but I prefer to have a larger SSD with over 50% free space as they run better when they have free space and arent all fully loaded. They also last much longer since the wear algorithms can spread the data to unused cells basically doubling the life of the ssd since you use half the cells then when you reformat you use the other unused half so each cell is only getting written on half as much which will probly double the life of the ssd. Which p[retty much guarantees it to not fail.

Im kinda waiting for it also... but still wondering if its gona be sata 3.... its mostly for my desktop as my laptop is good with g2.... but if its sata3 even if its backward compatible, ill be having doubts if the the sata2 isnt holding it...making buy a new mobo... and maybe by then intels 6 core (affordable) will be out also... so it might be a lot of money... maybe i should just get a G2... but i would like a little more than 160gb
for my desktop app drive.
-
Actually they say the g3's will be even cheaper then the g2's. Even though thhey are the new model and you would think they would command a premium over the g2's supposedly the 25nm manufacturing process will make the g3's cheaper then the g2's according to some sources.

-
yea thats common sense i know that lmao
-
Intel will probably price their SSDs based on the rest of the market. That's the way the SSD market seems to work.
-
Expect it to cost a arm and a leg.. and right testicle too
-
Im kinda expecting the 160gb around $400 ($25 cheaper than what you can get a G2, probably $349 online), but 300gb..... probably around crucial 300, so $600-700, but i would love to see $499 but somehow i don't see that happening.
-
-
well if the 300gb is gonna cost the same as the c300 it better at the very min have equal performance 256 and 300 gb isnt rly that big a difference so if the c300 is still smokin em i wouldnt pay the same amount of money for an ssd with 44gb more space and slower performance.
-
-
i wont mind paying a decent price if they give higher read and write speeds then the c300

Yes. Intel and Micron's NAND joint venture is set to release the delicious 25nm 8GB MLC Nand. They are actually ahead of schedule, set for production/release in Q4 2010. The X-25V will be bumped up to 80GB, while the X-25M will come in at least two flavors: 160GB and 320GB. All at the same price points! ($125, $250, and $425 respectively)
I don't think it'll be available in 640GB, but if they do, it'll be a crazy advancement. That would be the most nand ever released under one controller, so it'd be safe to say the price would be absolutely ridiculous.
They are also going to use this MLC nand for a refresh of their enterprise drives, which almost exclusively use SLC. That means that intel most likely is updating their controllers along with the nand...specifically in terms of write amplification. I predict that they also will address the sequential write speeds.
I wonder if Microns C300 will have a refresh with this nand as well? That would guarantee 512GB (with an assload of DRAM to go with it) under a 2.5" enclosure. That could also mean that the 64GB C300 which sells for $150 would be bumped up to 128GB. That would be a steal, in terms of $ to GB, especially for a Sata 6gbps drive.
Are the G3 intel ssd's going to release 320GB?
