    Are there any 18.4" quality screens?

    No Vaio has my Clevo's specs and no current Vaio has a 18.4" screen. The problem with Vaios was always the price. You can get a laptop with the same specs for much less, albeit with a worse screen. The Vaio I was refering to cost 1k Euros and had an i5 processor! That is ridiculous and not even the screen justifies that price level. No wonder the AW series had such bad sales.

    Being able to swap screen would be wonderful. The fact that our Chi Meis have all of the LTN184HT01 pins + some and have the same voltages still leaves a little bit of hope left. However, without the Samsung's pin assignment any rewiring would be like playing cards in the dark.

    I too thought of a second hand 18.4" Vaio as a backup pc and for watching movies, although I find hard to justify owning two 18.4" DTRs.

    But to answer your question, I haven't totally lost hope, but I'm not holding my breath either for a solution.
