Are there any External Hard Drive that is portable w/o requiring power that is 2TB or more?

I'm not talking about the External Hard Drives that says desktop version that requires another power source. I need something like a Seagate Freeagent Go or a portable one that is 2TB that only requires the standard usb cable.

    Thanks

If you want to connect to 'only' native USB 3.0 host computers - you should be fine.

It's with the lower power USB 2.0/1.1 connections (and/or ExpressCard or CardBus adaptors USB 3.0 or otherwise) where you'll have a problem.

The drives/enclosures themselves can be used however they are powered - the specific combination of (host) ports, enclosure/chipset/driver and the HDD itself is what are the unknowns here.

    Good luck.

I have the WD 2TB since fairly early on and have had no trouble with it. Sometimes you can find good deals for it on eBay. That's where I got mine.

And the Samsung M3 2TB has just arrived in Europe with a price that's a lot more attractive than the current price of the 2TB Seagate (which hasn't crossed the water yet).

I've just got the Samsung M3 which is about 15mm thick and contains the Seagate ST2000LM005 HN-M201AAD 3 platter 9.5mm thick drive which is made in what used to be Samsung's HDD factory. I expect the same drive is in the 2TB Seagate Backup Plus but in a thinner casing.
