I am currently stuck with a 60 GB drive in my D420 and I am having a hell of a time finding other, better drives. Any suggestions?

A 240GB Toshiba 1.8" Drive is coming soon. Might be expensive.

Very pro guys. How would I find out about power consumption? Is there an easy way?

andy that 240gb drive will cost more than $400, so it should not be an option.
A friend of mine has a 60gb 1.8" drive and it averages about 17mb/sec in hdtune, which is probably what you are getting. I dont think the 5400rpm versions will be much of an upgrade. I think you may want to look into the 1.8" ssd's since they will offer much greater performance than any mechanical 1.8" drive.

Power consumption is written on the label of the drives. It should say 5V at say 0.35A.
Multiply the voltage and amperage and you get watts.
