    Hi,

I was wondering whether the ES CPUs for the PM965 chipset come with an unlocked multi?

    e.g. T7500 ES, T7700 ES and T8100 ES?

Or is there no way to tell until you get one?

These Core 2 Extreme processors have unlocked multipliers, mostly appear in eBay as ES version and they are for PM/GM965 chipsets:
    X7800 (2.6GHz, 800MHz, 4MB, 65nm, 44Watt)
    X7900 (2.8GHz, 800MHz, 4MB, 65nm, 44Watt)
    X9000 (2.8GHz, 800MHz, 6MB, 45nm, 44Watt)

But not all PM/GM965 based notebooks can have them since these processors' power requirement is the highest among all compatible processors for PM/GM965 chipsets, they need much sophisticated cooling system and special BIOS support.

The bios will be able to use any of them, but rarely will it support changing the multiplier, so it would need to be pin modded to work at a multiplier other than the default one. The 44 watt TDP in this case must take into account overclocking because there is no reason for supposedly cherry picked cpus to consume more power relative to other penryns.

Seems like this one is not for PM/GM965.
