    Are these normal temps?

    Hi! New user here.

I recently got Asus ROG G771JM, and was wondering if I'm getting acceptable temps.

The CPU's idle at about 40 - 45 ºC when idle, and go up to 85 - 87 ºC when gaming (this is a 4710HQ, btw).

The 860m can reach a peak temp of 87 ºC, also when gaming.

Are there within "healthy" limits for the hardware? I'm not using any cooling pad at the moment.

    Thanks in advance!

Those temps seem fine to me, most cpu`s will take up to 100-105c max , the graphics is ok as well, it looks like you cpu and graphics share the same heat pipe as the temps are approx the same.

You could try raising the back of the notebook up slightly, put something under the back feet, as cooler is always better.

Thanks for your reply! Will use a book or something to raise the laptop a bit, before I get a laptop stand.

Also keep the air vents clear of dust, especially the one that the cpu/gpu`s heat blows out of, get a can of air and make sure the notebook is cool before using it.

I bought a stand from the £ shop in the UK

That'd be the vent on the left side of, in the case of this model... Ok, I'll follow your advice. Thanks once again! You've been immensely helpful!
