I'm reposting this, as I posted it in the wrong thread originally. I have crucial M4 256 GB SSD hooked up to my M17x R3. I downgraded the bios to A08 and have the SSD in the middle bay (1 i believe)

Here are my speeds...Are they normal or off. I noticed the 4Kb the write is faster than the read. Is that ok?

Looks about right. Which firmware do you have on the SSD?

I'm not home right now to check, but I'm pretty sure it's 009.

do check it, as if it's 0009 you should upgrade it to 0309 as m4 had a nasty bug that caused bsod after 5200 hours working time.

Nothing was happened to the drive or data on it, but it's a nuisance.

The CD iso method seems to be most reliable fyi. The upgrade doesn't destroy your data, but I'd suggest imaging it to a different drive "just in case". Go straight to the new FW.

fwiw, I'm still on 0009 too :D No where near the 5k hour mark but yea, I ought to update, haha. 0009 introduced the tweaking that resulted in higher speeds, which is why I asked. If you were pre-0009 you would see some nice boosts in the upgrade!

Thanks for the heads up. As for my speeds, why is the write time faster than read time on the 4k? Is that normal?

Yea it's normal. Don't sweat it.

Heck, even mechanical drives are roughly twice as fast on random 4k writes versus reads. All you are doing is finding an empty spot to write a tiny bit of data versus trying to find a specific one. Crappy explanation, but ought to serve a purpose ;)
