Okay all, I am in need of some serious help. I just hope that someone gets back to me before my computer has an unfortunate accident! So I got the Vista upgrade for my Acer Aspire 5100 for free, due to buying the POS shortly before Vista's arrival. I have been going crazy because my computer crashes all the time, says my graphics card needs a new driver. Windows shows my PC having ATI M200, when in fact I have ATI Xpress 1100. My computer keeps trying to download a driver that I don't need, and since it's not showing the actual 1100....nothing works!!! I've been to ATI's site, no luck. Downloaded the catalyst manager, it reads my card as windows gives it, M200. Now, my lovely friends at ACER have a driver on their site to fix this problem, but guess what??? Files are corrupted and it doesn't work. Please Help me, anyone! I will be sitting here patiently pulling every hair out of my head until I can fix this. Thanks for your time though, I appreciate it.

1100 & 1150's are reported as 200m by windows and every other utility including ATI Catalyst. It will never show 1100 so don't worry about that or get hung up on it all are 200 series. Here is a link to AMD/ATI site and what I think you might need driver for Vista 32-bit for 1100. http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vista32/integrated-vista32.html

    Good luck!

Yes it does, just get the right drivers and it will recognize the correct card.

sandee1321 if you are using vista then forget the "official" acer drivers they don't install as you found out. Instead I suggest you download the desktop drivers for the xpress 1100 here after that use the DH mobility mod tool found here to mod the drivers for notebook use. Just follow the instructions found on that page to modifiy the drivers and to install the driver, I did this and it works just fine :D. Vista reports my card as ATI Xpress 1100/1150.

Note doing this modifies the ATI driver for use on notebooks it will then cause windows to say that the driver isn't digitally signed pay no attention to that.

I hope this information helps you... :)
