Hey everybody,
I'm currently try to find a good laptop to use for work and for personal use. For work I only plan on using it for browsing and that kind of thing but for personal use I'd like to be able to use it for gaming and HD videos. I stumbled upon this laptop and I think that it seems like a pretty nice one.
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS7750G-6444 Notebook Intel Core i5 2410M(2.30GHz) 17.3" 4GB Memory 640GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 6650M
The Acer Aspire 7750G-6444, I know that it'll do everything that I want it to and then some. I plan on purchasing a SSD with it but I'd like to keep the HDD that's in it as additional storage or just purchase a larger HDD down the road a little bit.. and my question to you guys is.. how do I add an additional hard drive? I know that in the reviews of the notebook on Newegg people are saying that you need a different bottom plate. Well I've looked all over and I can't seem to find where I can purchase this particular item.
Any ideas? I'm in no hurry seeing as I can't purchase for another week or so anyway but ya, I'd like to be able to have all of the links so when it comes time to purchase I can do so quickly =]]]
Thanks,
Jer

In my experience, if the notebook did not come with the necessary wiring (even if it has the dual HDD bays...) to connect a secondary HDD/SSD, then the time and cost to do so was simply not worth it.
You can install a HDD in the optical drive bay (losing the use of the optical drive, of course), but that solution is not on my preferred list.
The best way to get a dual drive bay system (along with all the necessary wiring, connectors and SSD/HDD drive 'cage' and screws/clips/etc.) is to buy/order one that way (with two HDD installed from the factory).
Even if you buy a system that has dual drive bays but ships with a single HDD, you will spend too much $$$ and effort to get the necessary ancillary pieces to get the second HDD working (if it's possible at all - some units may have shipped with a different MB or the port connectors left off the MB too).
Highly suggest you find a dual HDD system (with the smallest/cheapest HDD's installed) that ships complete and then you'll know for certain that all the necessary parts are there to upgrade to whatever level of storage you want/need to in the future.
Good luck. -
drive into it and it works but bottom plate will not fit, Maybe a ssd will because they are thinner wish I had one to check, i beleive a different bottom plate is avail, I will check on that soon.... -
