Hello,
Does anyone know if Acer Aspire AS 5100 support DDR 667?![]()
Thanks

This says you can, but I'm not super-familiar with AMD notebooks.
-
The specs for your laptop are here, looks like it supports both DDR2 533 & DDR2 667
-
The acer aspire 5100 series of notebooks are built to support both DDR2 533mhz and DDR2 667mhz so the answer to your question is yes. There are a few members on these boards which use 667mhz DDR2 with there aspire 5102s. Remember the AMD turion 64 x2(aspire 5102) and MK-36 single core processor found in the aspire 5101 were built to support up to DDR2 667mhz memory.

Yes, been running 667MHz ram for 8 months now and no problems.

Aspire 5100 - can anyone tell me how to insert new RAM modules I have purchased. Read users guide and this says they are in the back of notebook. Remove the four screws from the section where the memory should be, but cannot remove cover. A new Notebook and I do not want to damage this, just would like to upgrade RAM as it is very, very slow.
Any help would be so much appreciated.

You just remove screws and the cover comes right off.
But there are more than just 4 screws. I count 5 on mine, and one of them is hidden in a little hole (unlike the other 4). So that's why it won't come off. -
Rechecked very carefully and only four screws on the cover.
The cover is just solid and no movement when screws are removed. Cannot seem to get hold of users manual from the net. Acer support a little difficult to say the least. -
After you remove the screws, you sill have pull up from the bottom of the cover. There is a small area on the bottom right of the cover where you have room to put a flat head screwdriver and pull up on the cover to remove it.
It is held by little flaps on the sides so that's why it's not coming off even with the screws off.
