I would like to upgrade my T5550 CPU to the T9300 is this possible with this laptop? Do I need a new BIOS update? I looked on Asus's webpage and seen nothing...

Also how hard is it to drop it in? Pop cover loosen some screws? Do I need a different heatsink with the T9300?

    Thanks

BTW what about gaming has anyone got any FPS increases from this upgrade?

    Check out the last post....
You can try and upgrade your BIOS, if the current version is older than April 2008....

you will find a considerable increase in FPS, especially in games which demand more physics realism....

I am not sure about the disassembly, but if your laptop has a large compartment cover at the underside like the M50Sv....you should be able to get away with the upgrade without opening the whole machine....

Mars. Did you get to upgrade the laptop?

Im seeing into upgrade the cpu too, because i would like to get better performance out of this machine. Its great for medium-graphics, but i think the upgrade would make all games go smoother.

I tend to see a lot of 100% cpu usage when playing unreal 3. I think it is time to upgrade, but i am uneasy as to how to do it. I have been checking some posts on how to open it up. Until now i only have found one on how to open it to clean the dust on the heat-sink, but i would feel better if someone has had experience changing the cpu.

    Any help will be appreciated.

PS. the link is to a spanish forum; i have no problems with the language, but if someone needs a translation, i can help out and maybe post it here. just ask!
